Yeah, but what's she like?

Life would be so much easier if we were computers. Decisions would be straight forward, based on facts and analytical data -- cut and dry.

As human beings, the decision making process gets fogged up by our emotions - doesn't it? When we are looking to hire a contractor to make a repair or renovate our home or if we're looking to take on an employee or outsource work as part of a business project, what do we do?

Well, I know what I do. I do a summary check of credentials, ask about the price (of course), but I really want to tune into who this person is: Do I like them? What does my gut tell me? Are they honest? Do they rub me the wrong/right way? Aside from a glowing referral, what's making me pick you?

Non-verbal Communication -- Actions Do Speak Louder Than Words
Interestingly, according to a UCLA study, the verbal impact of communication only accounts for 7% of your overall message. The bulk of our communication comes across in our appearance and body language, comprising 55%. Tone, speed and inflection of our voice make up the remaining 38%.

Without opening your mouth, how do you affect a prospect's perception of you?
